About me

My name is Kevin Vitale, I am an Italian writer who has lived in the land of wine for a lifetime and who by pure chance, more than 10 years ago, discovered the world of Pu’er and fermented teas. My path has been anything but linear, but a sign of a curiosity that has always guided my every choice. After obtaining my first B.Sc. at the University of Turin and six years spent working as a physical re-educator, I decided to follow that passion that had animated my dreams since I was a child: the passion for taste, for the senses, for what is artisanal, true and authentic.

It was my studies as a sommelier in British and Italian academies that made me appreciate tea even more, it was right there, between one bottle of wine and another, that this drink, with its archaic and sense-saturated charm, entered my life.
A few years later I enrolled in university again to study Food Technology in search of a new scientific career, a turning point that could bring me closer to tea, closer to what I learned to love deeply.

In the years that followed, my journey led me to found the blog Wild Harvested, an open window on the world of fermented tea. I had the pleasure of directing consulting and dissemination activities, organizing tastings and writing articles that range from historical investigation to scientific research, in particular on Vietnamese, Indian and Chinese teas, but above all the fermented ones that originate in the lands of northern Vietnam, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Guangxi, Anhui, Sichuan, Hubei and Hunan.

Every cup I sipped on this long journey was not just a mere hedonistic satisfaction, but an encounter with the culture, with time, with the traditions that for millennia have accompanied human beings on this extraordinary path. In this way, tea has become not only a subject of study, but a beacon that guides the choices of my life, illuminating a road that brings me back, in every sip, to the earth, to memory and to the beauty of the world.
